About

  • Business Services

DownTown Galax is a production of LSNet. The core technology is Drupal and is hosted on Ubuntu Linux.

The data comes from a database of local business we compiled three years ago and was used internally. The Galax business community has seen a lot of changes in the past three years and it will take us a while to approach being current. You can help by using the contact form with update information.

Listings are called profiles and are free. Basic profiles are written and edited by LSNet staff. All business are welcome to join after which they can access their own profile. Profiles contain demographic and geographic information, logos, pictures and a one "page" description which can contain HTML and function as a mini website.

Consumers can also join. All members can write "blogs". Businesses can post news about their business such as new arrivals, special products and services and sales and specials. Consumers can write about their experiences and make recommendations.

All members can post classified ads and events.

The plan is to support the site through advertising. Part of every page will be allocated to local and national advertising. Local advertisers may "bid" for space per 10,000 pixel units, roughly a square inch. National advertising will be handled by Google.
